Summer Hubs

International education hubs are opportunities to build a network of significant, enduring partnerships around the world. Partnerships are with peer institutions in strategic locations around the world that provide support for student exchanges, faculty collaborations, and potentially alumni integration.

The Italy Summer Hub

All of the information below is subject to change.

The Italy Summer Hub is a partnership between TXST and the University of Padova (UNIPD) that will provide TXST students and faculty the opportunity to engage in classes in Padova for a 3-week period, where students will stay in the university's dormitories and engage with local students and faculty in their academic disciplines.

UNIPD and TXST have a long-running, highly successful partnership in research and teaching. TXST chose UNIPD strategically because of its academic quality, and the demand and support for the partnership exists on both sides and at all levels of the university - students, faculty, and alumni.

Padova

The University of Padova

Padova is located in the north-east part of Italy in the Veneto region. It is 30 minutes by train to Venice and is strategically located in a position that allows for easy travel to other parts of Italy and Europe. Centered around 3 market squares and encircled by a river, Padova is a very walkable city and is the home of the Basilica di Sant' Antonio di Padua, the largest square (piazza) in Europe - the Prato della Valle, and a train station with national and international connection. It offers bus-transportation to the Venice airport (VCE) and during most months, it has a very active bicycle riding populace. University buildings, students, and faculty are immersed thoughout the city.

Founded in 1222, UNIPD recently celebrated its 800-year anniversary! It is a historical research university with over 70,000 students studying at all levels in 32 departments in 8 schools. Gallileo Galilei was a faculty member, it has one of the oldest university botanical gardens in the world, and its anatomical theater, since 1595, has drawn scientists and artists for centuries. UNIPD is also known for having conferred the first doctoral degree in the world to a woman, Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia, in 1678.
