Internship Program Steps
Before you book an appointment with the Education Abroad Representative or apply to your Affiliated Program, you must attend a General Information Session. At these sessions, we will go over all of the different types of study abroad programs, some financial solutions you might be able to use, and what your next step(s) will be in the process. Contacting your Academic Advisor
Contact your Academic Advisor(s) and discuss your possible course options for studying abroad. Visit this link to contact your Academic Advisor by major.
In order to use your awarded Financial Aid and Scholarships to help you pay for your Affiliated Program(s) the course(s) you plan to take abroad must be degree eligible, and you must be enrolled full-time.
For Undergraduate students, the enrollment hours are the following p
- Summer term enrollment must be 6 credit hours (including Summer I and Summer II terms)
- Fall and/or Spring semesters enrollment must be at minimum 12 credit hours
For Graduate students the enrollment hours are the following
- Summer term enrollment must be 3 credit hours
- Fall and/or Spring semesters enrollment must be 9 credit hours
It is the responsibility of the Affiliated program provider to give you detailed information about arrival, courses, housing, costs, orientation, visa requirements, etc. Education Abroad staff can assist you with your application process, help you prepare for your Education Abroad experience, and help you maintain your Texas State student status during the term(s) of your Education Abroad program.
Admission requirements for each Affiliated program vary depending on the program. In general, undergraduate or graduate Texas State students who have completed at least one semester, who are in good academic and discipline standing, and who have good academic references are eligible to apply. In addition, some programs have special language or minimum GPA requirements.
To access your Student Portal, please follow these steps:
1. Click on the far right tab labeled LOGIN
2. Enter your Net ID and password
3.Click program search and enter "Texas State Affiliated Program Application"
4. Select "Texas State Affiliated Program Application"
5. Chose from the right-hand side "Request Advising"
6.Scroll down under Learning Content and select Schedule an appointment with an Education Abroad Advisor
7. Select to assigned Education Abroad Advisor for the program you are interested in.
8. Chose from the dates and times available.

Now that you have selected your program submit your application!
Now that you have selected your Affiliated Program, and your courses have been evaluated via your Texas State Affiliated Program Application, you can apply to your selected Affiliated Program!
Attend any on-site orientations mandatory by your Affiliated provider
Purpose: Students participating in an Education Abroad program must complete this form to confirm enrollment at the host institution.
Background Information: Students receive credits only for the courses approved by Texas State through the Transfer Credit Agreement (TCA) form. Therefore, if students register for course(s) not previously approved, they must complete a new TCA, submit it to Education Abroad and obtain approvals from Texas State University.
Purpose: Students participating in an Education Abroad program must complete this form to verify academic engagement in at least one course in order to remain eligible for aid awarded (if applicable) during the semester and to be in compliance with study abroad regulations. For more information, please review the Withdrawing and Non-Attendance page on the financial aid website for more information: http://finaid.txstate.edu/undergraduate/withdrawals.html All students on an affiliated or exchange program must complete this form since students are eligible to apply for federal financial aid at any time throughout the semester.
Background: Per federal regulations, Texas State is required to review students who are awarded federal financial aid but receive all non-passing grades. In such cases, students are considered unofficially withdrawn from the university for financial aid purposes. As a result, a federal withdrawal calculation must be performed to determine the amount of Title IV funds that the student must repay. The only exception is when an institution can document (within 30 days of the end of the semester) that the student was academically engaged after the 60-percent point of the semester. Since the term start and end dates for students on a reciprocal exchange or affiliated program vary by host institution, it is important for students to complete and return a verification of academic engagement form within 30 days of the end of the term at their host institution. Completion of this form will prevent the student from being unofficially withdrawn. This form is mandatory for all students participating in an affiliated or exchange program. Failure to complete this form by the above due date may negatively impact current or future aid rewards.
Purpose: Students participating in an Education Abroad program must complete this form to verify successful completion of their program in order to remain eligible for aid awarded (if applicable) during the semester, and to be in compliance with Education Abroad regulations.
Background: Students participating in an Education Abroad program and (If applicable) receiving financial aid at Texas State University must demonstrate completion of course work abroad. Although a transcript will be required to transfer credits to Texas State, it is common that transcripts are not available by the time they are needed to comply with federal financial aid regulations Thus, students receiving financial aid must submit this form on time. Students who fail to submit this form by the above due date may be required to repay all or a portion of their financial aid.
Request a transcript from your host university to be sent to Education Abroad prior to your return back to the U.S.

Transcripts are usually issued using the grading system of the country where the institution is located. Texas State Admissions Office will convert grades to the American grading scale (A, B, C..), and those are the grades that will be posted on the student’s Texas State transcript. The Admissions Office uses a table of conversion depending on the country of origin: http://www.wes.org/gradeconversionguide/index.asp
