Faculty-Led Program Important Information

Expand All Content
  • Students desiring to participate in summer 2022 travel programs are strongly advised to consider the significant impediments to global travel arising from the pandemic. Texas State University requires that student groups may not travel to countries or regions designated by the State Department as Travel Advisory Levels 3 or 4, which take CDC travel advisories into account.

The University continues to review the latest details on the pandemic effects to make informed decisions about prospects for any of its summer 2022 travel programs and further guidance is expected in the months ahead. In view of the personal time and financial commitments related to travel, please be advised to expect continuous changes to travel possibilities and it may be advisable to seek alternative academic or degree completion plans this summer.

If you would like to discuss your participation in an Education Abroad program or if you have any questions, please contact us at educationabroad@txstate.edu

  • Faculty-led programs are opportunities to go abroad with other Texas State students and Texas State faculty and earn Texas State academic credit.

Most Faculty-led programs are offered during the summer for about 2-4 weeks and students can earn up to two classes of course work. Courses are taught in English unless it is a foreign language program.

There are also Faculty-led programs offered during the Fall and Spring semesters. Some of these programs have an on-campus component before and/or after the dates of travel.

  • The Academic Program Director (APD) is the Texas State faculty member that is leading the Faculty-led program abroad. APDs are not only instructors in the programs, but they are also on-site with the groups to provide any necessary assistance.

  • Summer 2022 Applications

  • All faculty-led programs require that the student is in good academic and disciplinary standing, and meet all pre-requisites for the specific courses abroad. The student must also complete all necessary application and supplemental documents required by the program and comply with all deadlines.

Occasionally, programs may have other requirements depending on the particular circumstances such as physical condition, academic classification, interviews, etc. If a program does have these specific requirements, they will be stated in the program's online brochure.

  • While participating in a Faculty-led program, students are eligible to use their Texas State financial aid as long as they meet all financial aid eligibility requirements. It is strongly recommended that you discuss your education abroad plans with Texas State Financial Aid and Scholarships to go over your specific financial aid award and disbursement dates.
